How to Apply

The first stage in applying is to complete and return an initial enquiry form (click here to download). This allows the LEADER Support Team to check that your activities and project are eligible. A Development Officer will contact you to discuss your project and the application process.  LEADER cannot fund projects that have already started.

If your project, or elements of your project seem to be eligible, your Development Officer will meet with you, to find out more about the project and to support you through the application process. A completed Application Form with supporting documentation will be required.

Do not worry about putting the 'wrong' thing onto the Initial Enquiry Form, or, at a later stage, the Application Form. Your Development Officer will support you in putting forward your LEADER project application. 

LEADER FUNDS less than £5,000:
If your project application is for less than £5,000 from LEADER then no deadlines exist – your Application Form will be ‘fast –tracked’ with a decision within three weeks of the acceptance of your application.

LEADER FUNDS more than £5,000:
If your application is for more than £5,000, then it will be submitted to one of the quarterly meetings of the Local Action Group (LAG) for  a funding decision. The closing date for receiving completed Application Forms is four weeks prior to the next LAG meeting. Click here for application deadlines.
