Have an innovative rural enterprise idea? We want to hear from you!

We appreciate that our area has a diversity of rural businesses and enterprises -  accommodation, tourist attractions, outdoor activities, and retail spaces. To make the rural economy of the Forth Valley and Loch Lomond area even stronger, LEADER has set aside funding to specifically support more businesses and enterprises in rural Stirlingshire, Clackmannanshire, and West Dunbartonshire. New to this round of LEADER funding, this ring-fenced funding is set aside specifically for Farm Diversification and Rural Enterprise.

Within the Farm Diversification & Rural Enterprise fund, we can fund up to £25,000 per project or business, with up to 50% intervention rate (match funding).

Alternately, we are offering a small fund, specifically for project feasibility studies, up to £2,500 per project or business, with up to 70% intervention rate (match funding).

We seek to fund activities that align with the values/aims in our Local Development Strategy. Have a look at our page about FVL LEADER to explain the values and aims of the fund. Usually, we seek to fund innovative or pilot projects, that concern activities that are additional to your business (not more of the same).

Some examples of the types of Rural Enterprise activities that could be funded:

  • Budget accommodation – yurts, camping pods, glamping
  • Promotional activity between multiple businesses – such as joint marketing between food businesses for a 'food trail map'
  • Venues – weddings, workshop space, art gallery, yoga studio
  • Retail – shops, café outlet, food & drink
  • Activities that extend the tourism season
  • Facilities for motorhomes, camper vans, etc.
  • Events
  • Tourist Attractions
  • Other
