What are Co-operation Projects?

Co-operation projects are projects which link up with other LEADER areas (or other rural areas with a similar partnership structure in place) to implement activities that will bring benefit to multiple areas - either by economies of scale or through shared learning.

There are two types of co-operation - inter-regional with other LEADER areas within Scotland or the UK, or transnational with LEADER areas in other countries.

Cooperation projects still need to fit well with our Local Development Strategy and need to address challenges in our area in order to ensure relevance and added value.

What is happening in the FVL area in relation to Co-operation?

In Forth Valley and Lomond LEADER we are looking at this from two perspectives:

  • Attracting applications from projects who want to operate in more than one LEADER area, and
  • Developing our own co-operation projects where we work up a project idea and then target other LEADER areas to join us

This has resulted in some very interesting project activity - although the second approach takes a lot more time from the LEADER team than the first!

So far, the following co-operation projects have been supported - please get in touch with us if you want to know more about any of the projects or if you have an idea of your own.

1. Mugstock Festival Event Management Internship Programme (with Kelvin Valley & Falkirk)

2. John Muir Way Marketing and Business Engagement Officer (with Tyne & Esk, West Lothian and Kelvin Valley & Falkirk)

3. Crowdfunding Coaching Project (with Kelvin Valley & Falkirk, Scottish Borders, Fife, Lanarkshire, Rural Perth & Kinross, Renfrewshire, Tyne Esk, West Lothian)

4. Regional Food Assemblies in partnership with Forth Environment Link (with Scottish Borders, Fife, and Rural Perth & Kinross)

A further two co-operation projects are in development along the theme of Wild Food and Foraging - one with Finland, Latvia and Lithuania (TBC) and a pan-Scotland project (partner areas TBC).  If this is a topic that interests you, please get in touch with Nikki.
